QUARTER BOILER SPINE TEST RIG METALWORK
Extending the Lifetime of a Nuclear Power Station.
In 2014 / 2015 we become part of a multidisciplinary team led by CJR Midlands Limited & Fraser Nash Consultants to create a test rig to investigate methods to protect a problematic weld within boiler spines. We were responsible for the design and manufacture of all the metalwork for the rig which was built close to our site.
We welded and 3d machine profiled a quarter boiler spine, all interfaces to the heater and hot air system, platforms and stairways. The controls supplied by AES Controls managed to run the rig at 400 Degrees Centigrade and the central spine was constructed so it could be disassembled to replace different insulation media to determine the best method of insulation for the problematic areas. This work was very successful.
LASER CUTTING OF VARIOUS CONTAMINATED WASTE STREAMS
From concept, to build to future works
From 2018 to date we have been the supply chain lead for two different Laser cutting Robotic cells. These are now being installed at a customer site. Each is aimed at a different waste stream with very different export routes.

We are already working on enhanced capability though haptic feedback and the use of a virtual/augmented controlling domain.
When finished these additional works will be applied to both full size industrial Robot Systems and also to much smaller Robots that are more suited to working in restricted environments.
These works are aimed at risk reduction to staff in high hazard industry.
